Robert J. Young

Robert J. Young is an American national sports therapist, trainer, facilitator, and musician based in Silicon Valley. [0] [1]Professionally trained in sports therapy, Young is known to introducing visualization techniques to Olympic athletes in the 1980's. In addition, he is a successful musician as The Blue Eyed Soul and is the part owner of The Dazz Band. Young is currently Vice President of The Lighthouse Media Group. [7]

Robert was born in Burlingame, California. His mother was a psychologist and his father was a government contractor. Due to his father's job, Robert would move around in his youth to New York City and Chicago before moving back to the San Francisco Bay Area. Music has been a huge part of Robert's life since he started singing when he was 3-years-old. His mother was into Jazz while his father enjoyed Opera. During his childhood, his family would host dinners with prominent government officials and figures such as Ella Fitzgerald. Young went on the graduate from Awalt High School. [7]

Robert attended Foothill College before transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles. He graduated in 1984 with a degree in kinesiology in 1984. He received further training in sports therapy at the Sports Medicine Training Institute. [7]

Career

Sports Therapy

Although Young's formal training was in physical therapy for athletes, he picked up a lot of knowledge in psychology from his mother who wrote the thesis for healing the inner child. Thus, Young took those concepts of visualization and started implementing it to Olympic athletes in the 1984 Olympics. This lead Young to become one of the most sought out trainers in the 1980s to both athletes and celebrities. Some of the most notable people he has worked with include Bubba Smith, Tiana Alexandra, Rudolph Nureyev, Dorian Haywood, and more. [7]

During the 1984 Olympic Games, Young advised American athletes on how to use the visualization technique to improve their results.

The next year, he was recruited to move to Canada where he served on the therapy staff for the national team during the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games. In addition, Robert worked as the Senior Facilitator for The CrossRoadsYardley Corporation working with Oil Companies, individuals of the Canadian Parliament, and Canadian Indian Nations Treaty 7. In 1995, Robert moved to Silicon Valley to apply his therapy program and knowledge with small businesses and major corporations in the area. [7]

Starting in high school, Robert would sing at local nightclubs and perform as background vocals in studio sessions.

Some of the notable people he worked with included Lenny Williams and Bobby McFerrin just to name a few. Robert is the Founder of The Lighthouse Media Group, [8]the CEO of RobbyJazz Music/Publishing, former CEO of Worldwide Records, and a Partner at B&Y Productions. He is the co-owner of the Multi Platinum-Grammy Award-Winning R&B Group The Dazz Band. Robert is also an international recording artist, songwriter, producer. In the music industry, he is known as Robby Young, "The Blue Eyed Soul."

These days, Robert is focused on his media group, The Lighthouse Media Group, doing concerts worldwide with documentary movies and TV series addressing different issues in different countries, creating a movement of human self-awareness.

Future Plans for The Lighthouse Media Group.

In addition, Robert plans to tour in Latin America with the Mexican Ambassador.
