Dr. Nicole Saphier: COVID-19 patients will have to 'come off' ventilators

Dr. Nicole Saphier is a radiologist and a Director of Breast Imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Monmouth. She is well known for providing her medical expertise as a contributor on Fox News, Fox Business, and MSNBC. [1] [5] [6]

Early Life & Education

Nicole Saphier was raised in Phoenix, Arizona and desirer to be a doctor from her younger age. At the age of 17, she became pregnant. While many people told her to have an abortion, Saphier decided to keep the baby and became a single mother. 18 years later, Nicole Saphier says that having her son at 18 and raising him well is her proudest achievement. She wrote an opinion piece for Fox News titled "Dr. Nicole Saphier: Lawmaker’s comments on abortion bill are appalling – I’m thankful I didn’t abort my son", in which she explores that moral implication s of the language used by Alabama State Rep. John Rogers during Roe v. Wade and talks about her own experience with pregnancy: [7] [8][38]

"When I was just 17 and learned I was pregnant, I was suddenly faced with a life-and-death decision: get an abortion, or become a mom much sooner than I had ever expected.

I chose motherhood, and am thankful every day that I am now blessed with a wonderful 19-year-old son."

Saphier later graduated from the Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) with highest honors. In Saphier's third year of medicine, her grandmother died from breast cancer. Her grandmother had a lump in her breast however she didn't get it checked out since she was too embarrassed to get examined by her physician. Her death inspired Saphier to get more involved in women's health and fight against breast cancer. [9]

After graduating from Medical school, Nicole Saphier completed a five year residency in radiology at Maricopa Integrated Health Systems. Saphier, then completed an Oncologic Imaging Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic with a specia ll Interest in breast imaging. [8] [5]

It was during fellowship that Saphier first became intrigued and passionate about the legislative process. She quickly realized she can only help so many people by seeing them in an office or hospital; in order to make a difference, she needed to reach people on a larger scale. During her fellowship she was a physician champion who led the effort to unanimously pass legislation to ensure women received the information they need regarding their breast cancer screening. [5] [8]

Immediately upon settling in the NYC area, Saphier became active in the local community by joining the local Board of Health, the Economic Development Advisory Committee as well as being named the Chairperson of the Joint Municipal Alliance. Since taking the Chairperson role of the Alliance she has led the efforts in supporting anti-drug and alcohol programs throughout her local and surrounding communities. [5]

When you think of your BIG goal, sometimes you start feeling overwhelmed.

Why?

Because big goals don’t get achieved right away.

Instead, you need to create mini goals to help excite you along the way.

This way you can be more goal-orientated and build a habit of being more effective.

Celebrating your small wins will help you stay motivated through your journey.

Plus, celebrating is always super fun.

Maybe you break your goal down to 10 small-sized goals with tasks that get you on track to achieve them.

For each of the 10 goals you can add a small celebration.

Maybe a glass of champagne for one or a dessert with a sparkler on top for another.

Don’t forget to check out some of our motivational quotes about success in a later section.

This goes back to the positive environment point: You need to be around others who are just as ambitious as you.

American entrepreneur John Rohn once said, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with it.”

And whether or not that’s true is debatable, the reality is being around the right kind of people can only help you grow.

If you’re surrounded by those who love your ambition, you’ll be more ambitious and achieve more.

If you’re surrounded by loved ones who tell you your goals are stupid and tell you to change them, you need to avoid them.

Be around those who help you feel comfortable being the ambitious, go-getter you are, so you can become the successful person you’re meant to be.
