Leon Johnson Muhammad is a former boxing trainer and manager. Muhammad has also worked as a professional boxing matchmaker. He is a former member of the Nation of Islam. As of 2020 he works as a boxing adviser.

He originally became involved with boxing through Butch Lewis. Leon Muhammad is a member of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame. During his over forty year career in boxing he has managed eight world champions.^[18]

He was born in Alabama in the 1940's and moved to South Carolina in his childhood.

As a young adult he moved to Philadelphia where he became involved with boxing and the Nation of Islam. Muhammad worked with former three time heavyweight world champion Muhammad Ali.

He has also worked with the Michael Spinks and Leon Spinks. The Spinks brothers were 1976 Olympic gold medalists and heavyweight world champions. He has been affiliated with Don King Productions and Top Rank.

Muhammad managed former World Boxing Council heavyweight world champion Tim Witherspoon. Muhammad helped navigate James Shuler to an undefeated record and the NABF middleweight championship. James Shuler was his brother-in-law and Leon helped negotiate the Shuler-Tommy Hearns match of 1986. The Hearns-Shuler match was held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at the Outdoor Arena. The Shuler camp recieved a six figure payday but Shuler died seven days later in an accident. The cold temperature may have led to Shuler's loss in the first round to Hearns.

In 2020, Muhammad stated that Deontay Wilder was an overrated boxer that has lost some of his ability and that is why he lost to Tyson Fury. The Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder II boxing match of February 2020 was contested for the Lineal/WBC World Heavyweight Championship. The bout was held in Las Vegas and was a financial success. As of April 2020, he lives in New Jersey.

Everipedia's #1 ranked editor Matthew E. O'Neil contacted Muhammad through Facebook in April 2020. Muhammad told O'Neil that outside of his right hand Deontay Wilder is not a complete boxer. He praised Floyd Mayweather as a businessman but he felt that great fighters score knockouts. During the interview he mentioned the death of former world champion Johnny Bumphus.

O'Neil was on The Grueling Truth and Fight News Unlimited n 2020. O'Neil's boxing career has been covered by the United Kingdom based company Intuboxing.^[17].

Muhammad has stated that the current boxing game has gone corporate and the current boxers lack passion and box simply to get paid.

He also managed Charles Williams and James Kinchen.
