Traces Back To 1970's

The Founder/CEO of Don King Production is Don King. King's career as a boxing promoter traces back to 1973. He promoted "The Rumble in the Jungle" and the "Thrilla in Manila". DKP has promoted some of the most prominent names in boxing history, including Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Tomasz Adamek, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Chris Byrd, John Ruiz, Julio César Chávez, Ricardo Mayorga, Andrew Golota, Bernard Hopkins, Félix Trinidad, Roy Jones Jr., Azumah Nelson, and Marco Antonio Barrera. The Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield I and Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson II matches of 1996 and 1997 were promoted by Don King Productions and generated over 200 million dollars in revenue.[9]

In 1983, DKP promoted 12 world championship bouts.

In 1994, DKP promoted 47 world championship matches.

The company was created in the 1970's and was originally located in New York City before moving to Florida in the 1980s.

Dana Jamison was involved with DKP for over twenty five years. Don King Productions has promoted over 600 world championship fights with nearly 100 individual boxers having been paid $1 million or more. DKP also holds the distinction of having promoted or co-promoted seven of the 10 largest pay-per-view events in history, as gauged by total buys. Carl King worked as a boxing manager for DKP for many years. As of March 2022 John Moceyunas is the Vice President of Operations for the company. Don's daughter, Deborah King, has worked for the company. She is the former President of the Mike Tyson Fan Club.

King Is From Cleveland, Ohio

King is originally from a hard-core ghetto in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been featured on the covers of Time, Sports Illustrated, Ebony, and Jet (magazine), He was Inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997. King was the only boxing promoter named to Sports Illustrated's list of the "40 Most Influential Sports Figures of the Past 40 Years". King has stated:
