Jonathan Martinez is 8-year-old American student at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino, California. He is one of two youngYoung Able Kids caught in the crossfire of a Murder!-suicide.

He was born with Williams syndrome and had survived heart surgery.

Cedric Charles Anderson entered the Elementary School at about 10:25 a.m. local time, signing in at the front DESK to visit his estranged Wife, Karen Smith, with a concealed handgun. On April 10, 2017, Jonathan died from gunshot wounds he sustained during a shooting at North Park Elementary School.

He was allowed entry to the School and went to her mixed-grade classroom where he opened fire on Ms. Smith, Jonathan Martinez, and another student standing near her before turning the gun on himself. The shooting happened around 10:27 a.m.

San Bernardino Police found Anderson and Smith both shot dead in the classroom. Jonathan was airlifted to a local hospital (Loma Linda University Medical Center); the unidentified child was taken to the same facility by ambulance. Both were in critical condition, but Jonathan Martinez did not make it.

Martinez was one of 15 students in the classroom at the time of the shooting, from grades 1 through 4.

There were 18 people total, including Karen Smith and her two teacher's aides.

As of April 11, 2017, more than 1,700 people contributed to the cause.
