Aftermath
On April 10, 2017, Anderson killed himself in a murder-suicide incident that occurred at North Park Elementary School.
Anderson entered the Primary school at about 10:25 a.m. local time, signing in at the front desk to visit his estranged lover, Karen Smith with a concealed handgun.
He was allowed entry to the school and claimed that he had to drop off something for Smith.
According to officials, staffers knew who Cedric Anderson was.
After signing in, he went to her mixed-grade classroom where he opened fire. According to officials, he shot Smith and two children standing near her before turning the gun on himself. One of the children (Nolan Brandy) survived; the other one (Jonathan Martinez) and Smith did not.
Cedric Charles Anderson used a .357 Magnum during the shooting.
San Bernardino Police found both Anderson and Smith shot dead in the classroom. The two unidentified children were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. An 8-year-old boy, Jonathan Martinez was also killed in the shooting.

Criminal Record
Cedric Charles Anderson had a criminal record before the shooting in San Bernardino, California.
Between 2012 and 2013, when he lived in Torrance, California, police responded 5 times to reports involving Anderson. Of those 5 times, he was arrested twice, both of which related to incidents of violence. Neither of the incidents involved Karen Smith (his estranged wife).
Torrance police responded to 3 other calls involving family disturbances, a verbal argument, and a “keep the peace” call when Anderson was moving out of the residence.
2012 Arrest
According to Torrance Police Sgt. Ronald Harris, one of the calls related to a domestic violence incident involving Anderson and a woman who lived with him in the 2700 block of 236th Street on August 28, 2012. Anderson and the woman were arrested that day, but no charges were filed because prosecutors deemed the fighting to be “mutual combat.”
2013 Arrest
On May 27, 2013, Anderson was arrested for allegedly brandishing a knife against a neighbor in the 3400 block of Maricopa Avenue.
Torrance prosecutors charged him two months later with three misdemeanor counts: brandishing a gun, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. The case was dismissed on May 28, 2014, when the victim failed to appear in Torrance court.
Other Arrests
Cedric Anderson was also arrested on multiple occasions before he lived in Torrance.
According to San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan, he was also arrested in 1993 in Kern County, California for battery with serious bodily injury and battery on a person, but the case was dismissed. He was also arrested in 1982, but that case also didn’t result in a conviction, Burguan said.

Cedric Anderson worked as a pastor.
He also had a military background.
Cedric Anderson and Karen Smith married on January 28, 2017. They spent their honeymoon in Sedona, Arizona. When they were married, he moved into her home in Riverside, California. According to Karen Smith's family, she grew terrified of Cedric Anderson and went into hiding.
According to Karen Smith's mother, Irma Sykes, they had been together for about 4 years before they got married.
Anderson has children, all of whom are not from Karen Smith.
His eldest son Jared was a football player at Grayson High School outside Atlanta, Georgia. Jared played defensive tackle. [1]
