Controversy

In June 2020, Amouranth was named in a lawsuit against Twitch. Erik Estavillo, a Twitch viewer from California submitted a civil complaint seeking $25 million in damages from Twitch for exposing them to "overly suggestive and sexual content from various female streamers" while using the site. Based on court documents obtained by Dexerto, the plaintiff, who has previously sued Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and Blizzard Entertainment, submitted the formal complaint to court on June 15 seeking a lawsuit, and Twitch itself was served with an official summons on June 19.[31]

According to the complaint, filed in the Santa Clara Superior Court of California, Estavillo suffers from several medical issues that require him to rely entirely on the internet for all of his entertainment, as well as obsessive–compulsive disorder and sexual addiction, which the complaint claims Twitch only makes worse.[31]

The complaint went on to list several female streamers it claimed: "continues to expose viewers who just want to see people playing video games on Twitch, but instead get exposed to sexually addictive material and content on a consistent and regular basis daily."

In addition to Amouranth, Quqco , STPeach (Lisa Vannatta), JadeTheJaguar , Pink_Sparkles , Valeria7K , DanielaAzuage_ , lilchipmunk , iaaras2 , theRaychul , KrystiPryde , SonjaShio , Gavrilka , MizzyRose , KayPikeFashion , Alinity Divine, QTCinderella , Pokimane, Velvet_7 , and Loserfruit were all named in the lawsuit.[31]

In requesting relief, the complaint wants all the streamers listed above permanently banned for violating Twitch's TOS, along with $25 million dollars "to be split between the plaintiff and other Twitch Prime Turbo Subscribers," with any leftover going to various charities.[31]

Fake News

In July 2020, during a podcast with other female streamers – Alinity Divine, Dizzy Kitten, and STPeach (Lisa Vannatta) – where they were discussing how easily rumours about them are spread, Amouranth mentioned one from 2018 where people believed she was married. The rumour was sparked by a supposed screenshot of a conversation between her and one of her Twitch.tv moderators, which was posted on Reddit.

The conversation implied that Amouranth was hiding the fact that she had a husband because 'people get turned off by that idea,' which upset the moderator, who insulted her, clearly believing that they were being led on.

It turned out later that the screenshot was made up, with Amouranth adding that the anonymous poster later admitted to it.

Amouranth examined the pressing factor of the responsibility, and the number of makers presumably feel the same way.

"The crush resembles, removing a piece of what made 'them' before web-based media."

She additionally said "it sucks that, similar to, I'm losing myself."[34][35]

Dr. K addressed the troublesome connection between the crowd and the maker, and the issues that emerge in defining limits.

He portrayed her as "an ordinary great individual who has had life, online media, and streaming get to them, since that is the thing that it does."[34]
