On October 23, 2017, Wesley was arrested and charged with felony injury to a child after the body of Sherin Mathews was discovered deceased.

Authorities stated that he changed his stor y about what originally happened to Sherin.

He first told authorities he left Sherin outside on October 7, 2017, at 3:00 a.m. as punishment for not drinking her milk.

After 15 minutes when he went out to see her, Sherin was missing.

He waited until 8:00 a.m. to report her missing.

Sini Mathews was in the house at the time of the incident, but was reportedly asleep and unaware of what her husband was doing. ^[1]

Her body was found in a culvert around 11:00 a.m. local time in the area of E. Spring Valley Rd.

and S. Bowser Rd.

The area has been blocked off as a crime scene.
