Shawn Edward Lucas (born June 11, 1978) was a registered agent or process server for One Source Process a legal services company in Washington, DC. Most of their business is in service of process or the filing and giving of notice for lawsuits.
Shawn Edward Lucas was also known as Astro, MCSL and Maximus Jonx.
Shawn Lucas's longtime girlfriend was Savannah King.
His brother was Justin Lucas, his father William Lucas, and his mother Susan Lucas.
Shawn Edward Lucas enjoyed Hip hop music and produced two hip hop albums. He learned to snowboard by moving to Colorado at age 18. He learned the martial art Jujutsu by travelling to Brazil for three times, for three months each time.
Lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee
In July, 2016 Shawn Lucas and Brandon Yoshimura were the process servers who delivered the papers for a class action lawsuit filed by Bernie Sanders supporters against the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The lawsuit alleged that the and the Debbie Wasserman Schultz the chair of the committed fraud by favoring Hillary Clinton during the Democratic Party presidential primaries, 2016.
Shawn Lucas and Brandon Yoshimura delivered the papers to the DNC headquarters in Washington, DC.
The lawsuit was filed by a group of 120 people, including 104 Sanders donors, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The court is in Debbie Wasserman Schultz's congressional district.
The DNC named Shawn Lucas in a motion they filed to dismiss the lawsuit on partial grounds of improper service. According to the motion Shawn Lucas and Brandon Yoshimura another process server, served the lawsuit to Rebecca Herries, a special assistant who was not authorized to accept the lawsuit.
Shawn Lucas however claimed that he had served the lawsuit to Rebecca Christopher, a creative strategist at the DNC.
Death
On August 2, 2016 Shawn Lucas died from unknown causes.
Snopes a hoax debunking site was told by the D.C police that the "classified as a Death Report, pending the results of an autopsy."
According to a public incident report by police, Lucas's girlfriend found him unconscious in the floor of the bathroom at her home in Washington, DC. When first responders arrived they found no sign of life.
Snopes contacted Shawn Lucas's employer One Source Process to find more on his death however they were only able to confirm that he died.
A Go Fund Me page was created to raise money for Shawn Lucas's funeral. The page has raised more than $19,000 almost double then the campaign's original goal of $10,000.
