Seth Conrad Rich was a 27 year old staffer at the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Seth Rich grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and later relocated to Washington, DC. Seth resides in the Bloomingdale area of Northwest DC in a brownstone with three or four roommates. [1]
Career
Seth Rich worked as the Voter Expansion Data Director for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Capitol Hill. He previously worked as a Research Data Associate at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner. He also worked as the Boating Education Director & Staff Programming Director at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin.
Education
Seth Conrad Rich studied at Creighton University from 2007-2011 graduating with a B.A., Political Science: Public Policy and History. During his time, at the university he worked in a variety of political jobs. Seth Conrad Rich worked in the Nebraska Democratic Party as a research intern and helped with campaign of senator Ben Nelson. Before university he attended Central High Omaha Central High School.
Death
On July 11, was killed a block away from his home in Bloomingdale area of Northwest DC. [1]
WikiLeaks are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of Seth Rich's killer.
In an interview Julian Assange the founder of WikiLeaks said that he did not believe Seth's death was simply the result of a botched robbery.
He also did not confirm or deny whether Seth Rich was the source of the The Hillary Leaks Series of 2016 on WikiLeaks which exposed leaked emails showing that the DNC had rigged the primaries in favor of Bernie Sanders. Some have taken Julian Assange's comments to mean that Seth Rich was behind the leak.
Others have also speculated that Seth's death was related to the death of Shawn Lucas who served a lawsuit against the DNC.
Seth was shot several times, according to D.C. police, and struck at least once in the back.
The attack occurred about 4:20 a.m. on a quiet residential street across from a closed convenience store at Flagler Place and W Street NW.
Seth was rushed to hospital but died at an area hospital at 5:57 a.m. [1]
Seth's father Joel I. Rich said “He (Seth) wanted to make a difference,” and that “Politics was in his blood.”
Debbie Wasserman Schultz head of the DNC made the following statement:
“Our hearts are broken with the loss of one of our DNC family members over the weekend. Seth Rich was a dedicated, selfless public servant who worked tirelessly to protect the most sacred right we share as Americans – the right to vote. He saw the great potential of our nation and believed that, together, we can make the world a better place. He was a joy to have as a member of our team, and his talents, intelligence and enthusiasm will be deeply missed by the many friends, colleagues and coworkers who worked by his side in service to the highest ideals of our democracy. “We send our deepest heartfelt sympathies to Seth’s family, and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers as we try to pick up the pieces and carry on the work that was so important to Seth and to us.”
