Shane Madej (born May 16, 1986) is a YouTube star. He is one of the two main co-hosts for BuzzFeed Unsolved along with Ryan Bergara. He does not believe in ghosts nor paranormal forces, but does believe very strongly in Bigfoot. Fans that are also skeptics are referred to as Shaniacs.
Personal Life
Shane was born to Mark and Sherry Madej in on May 16, 1986 Schaumburg, Illinois. His astrological sign is Taurus.
At around nine years old, Shane was going to attend church with a friend, but as soon "as he crossed the threshold," he got a bad nosebleed, and the church staff ran out of tissues cleaning it up. [4]
Shane's girlfriend is Sara Rubin, a fellow video producer at BuzzFeed.[11]
Career
Shane first rose to fame by starring in BuzzFeed Unsolved, which includes the series Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural.
In the videos, him and fellow co-star, Ryan, would visit haunted places to try to communicate with spirits to solve the mystery of "Are ghosts real?".
Some of the famous haunted places they have visited include Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, Winchester Mystery House, Whaley House and Dauphine Hotel.[5]
Shane and Ryan also star in another BuzzFeed Unsolved series named Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime, where they investigate criminals, criminal events and conspiracy theories such as the Zodiac Killer, Jack the Ripper, the murder JonBenét Ramsey, the murder of Black Dahlia and the Boy in the Box.[5]
Shane and Ryan together are dubbed the “ghoul boys”, with their appeal as amateur ghost-hunters.
They have garnered popularity among both skeptics and supernatural believers, leading to separate factions of followers — “Shaniacs” are those who share Shane's disbelieving outlook, and the “Boogaras” are those who believe in the supernatural like Ryan.[5]
Shane also created a fictional universe named Hot Daga.
It has a segment to itself at the end of every BuzzFeed Unsolved: Postmortem episode ever since the "The Boy in the Box - Q+A".[6]
He had past experience working at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois [10] and as a Video Producer for the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg, Illinois.
