Ryan first rose to fame by starring in BuzzFeed Unsolved, which includes the series Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural.

Some of the famous haunted places they have visited include Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, Winchester Mystery House, Whaley House and Dauphine Hotel.[6]
Ryan and Shane also star in another BuzzFeed Unsolved series named Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime, where they investigate criminals, criminal events and conspiracy theories such as the Zodiac Killer, Jack the Ripper, the murder of JonBenét Ramsey, the murder of Black Dahlia and the Boy in the Box.[6]
Unlike Shane, Ryan is a firm beliver in the unknown and had stated that his belief stems from his strong Christian upbringing. Ryan and Shane together are dubbed the “ghoul boys”, with their appeal as amateur ghost-hunters. They have garnered popularity among both skeptics and supernatural believers, leading to separate factions of followers — “Shaniacs” are those who share Shane's disbelieving outlook, and the “Boogaras” are those who believe in the supernatural like Ryan. [6]
In a since-deleted interview from VidCon 2018 titled "Shane Reveals A SHOCKING Detail About One of Buzzfeed Unsolved's Cases", Ryan stated that he and Brent Bennett would argue back and forth about unsolved cases during their commute to work, and eventually they decided to create BuzzFeed Unsolved.
In a Reddit Q&A, Ryan stated that the reason Brent eventually left the show was that "As the show became bigger and more time consuming, Brent didn't really have time to do it anymore since he's also a video producer that had other obligations. Plus, he truly was not a fan of investigating crime so he decided to step away." Ryan then asked Shane to co-host with him.[7]
Prior to Buzzfeed Unsolved, Ryan worked at Buzzfeed as a Video Intern from in 2014, before becaming a Video Fellow in 2015, then a Junior Video Producer in April 2015.
At this time, he was lighting, shooting, directing and editing BuzzFeed content, as well as producing his own.
Since February 2016, Ryan is a Video Producer at Buzzfeed.[8]
Ryan occasionally guest stars in other Buzzfeed series, such as BuzzFeed's Test Friends, The Try Guys, Tasty, Buzzfeed Worth It and Buzzfeed Multiplayer.
