Attitude to Trump Family
Michael Cohen's daughter says she was taken aback by Trump's behavior
In September 2020, Cohen said she was taken aback by President Donald Trump's behavior toward her father during a 2012 incident in which her father said Trump leered at her.[20][21]
"Trump's attention was diverted to another skirt walking off a tennis court.
'Look at that piece of a--,' Cohen recalled Trump saying, as he whistled and pointed," according to Vanity Fair.
"'I would love some of that.' It so happened that Trump was referring to Cohen's then 15-year-old daughter, Samantha."
"Cohen informed Trump of his mistake.
'That's your daughter?' Trump responded.
'When did she get so hot?' When Samantha reached her dad, Trump asked her for a kiss on the cheek, before inquiring, 'When did you get such a beautiful figure?' and warning her that in a few years, he would be dating one of her friends," the magazine reported.
Asked about the alleged incident by CNN's Alisyn Camerota on "New Day", Samantha Cohen said it's "a little bit less clear to me" because she's become "desensitized to men making these kinds of comments," adding that she remembered "insulting" comments Trump made toward her father during the episode. [20]
She continued: "And I was desensitized to men making creepy comments about me, but I was not desensitized to someone blatantly insulting and degrading my father in front of me, someone who I looked up to and loved very much, and that was very upsetting to me."
Samantha Cohen said the experience changed her impression of Trump and made her think that "maybe Trump doesn't treat my father so well."[20]
In an interview with Vanity Fair in September 2020, Samantha Cohen called Ivanka Trump's behavior "phony," "gross," and "fake". In the interview, she told Vanity Fair reporter Emily Jane Fox the Trumps used her family, and that Ivanka Trump consistently ignored her and once ratted her out for smoking cigarettes. Cohen said her family lived in the same building as Ivanka, so they would run into each other often. But when they did, Ivanka would pretend Samantha wasn't there. "I always found it so strange because she loved my dad," Cohen said. [22]
Samantha said she was taken aback in 2019 after running into Ivanka, who offered condolences for Michael Cohen's prison sentence for tax evasion and campaign finance violations.
"She saw me and I thought she was going to ignore me, as she had the rest of my life.
But she grabbed my arm and said, 'We all feel so terribly about what's happening to your dad.
Our hearts are breaking for him.
I'm so sorry that this happened to you guys,' in this high-pitched, sugary voice," Samantha told Fox.
"I knew how fake it was."
According to Samantha, Ivanka's sentiments were all for show.
"It just felt like someone threw a bucket of slime on me because it was so phony and gross," Samantha said.
"But no one actually gave a rat's a-- about my dad or my mom or my brother or me.
We were all, as my dad likes to say, collateral damage."[22]
