Rudy Pantoja (Hugh Mungus) is a Seattle, Washington resident who rose to fame in 2016 for a viral internet video in which he told social justice warrior Zarna Joshi his name was "Hugh Mungus."
In 2017, Rudy Pantoja (Hugh Mungus) became a candidate for Seattle City Council.

Rudy Pantoja (Hugh Mungus) explained that on the day of the incident, he was talking to police about the arrest of his daughter when afterwards he was confronted by Zarna Joshi. He admitted that initially he believed that Joshi might have had "cute guy syndrome" and might have been trying to start a conversation with him, but he quickly learned of her real intentions. Pantoja said that he was simply trying to make light of his own overweight stature, and that he was not intending to make a lewd innuendo. He explained that soon after the incident he offered to "get coffee" with Joshi to clear up any misunderstanding, but she refused.
Personal Life
Rudy Pantoja (Hugh Mungus) has one daughter who suffers from heroin addiction and is currently serving a prison/rehabilitation sentence. Pantoja stated that he was speaking in favor of the police bunker since they had helped give his daughter treatment for her drug addiction.
In late 2016, Rudy was reported as having severe medical issues and undergoing a hip replacement in the state of Washington.
Candidacy for Seattle City Council
Rudy Pantoja (Hugh Mungus) is running for the 8th seat on the Council following the incumbent’s retirement. His competitor is Mac McGregor, a gender, diversity and sex education activist known as the “Gender Sensei.”
