He was born in June 24, 1985 in Ventura, California, the U.S. He was born to his Israeli parents Gary and Donna Klein who were actually from an Ashkenazi Jews family. His paternal grandfather is actually a film and television producer named Leonard Katzman.

He attended Buena High School then went ahead to study English Literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
