Preston Ryan Cope was a student at Marshall County High School.

Cope resided in Benton, Kentucky. He played Baseball at the school. ^[1]

On January 23, 2018, Cope was fatally wounded in the Marshall County High School Shooting perpetrated by Gabe Parker. Another 15-year-old student, Bailey Nicole Holt died at the scene of the shooting.

Cope was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville, Tenn., where he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Four other males, ages 15-18 also were treated at Vanderbilt and are expected to survive.

Two of the males have been identified, Gage Smock was shot in the head, while Daniel Austin was shot in the arm.

Another student who was wounded, Hannah Danae, posted on social media that she forgave Parker for his actions, and is praying for everyone involved in the tragedy.
