Micah David-Cole Fletcher is a prized winning Poet in the city of Portland. He is known as one of the individuals from the eastbound train stab attack who attempted to stop the murderer and Racist, Jeremy Christian. ^[1]

Micah was born and raised in the state of Oregon, and for most of his life he grow up

near the city of Portland. He discovered the practice of writing at an early age and became one of his lifelong interests. Around the same time he would also discover Hip hop music which became an influence in his poetry and style of writing. ^[11]

When he was in Middle School, he had a difficult experience as he was institutionalized for having an erratic anger and behavior.

Through the art of writing, his interest led him to come into contact with Teriya Autry in High School.

Autry mentored Micah and introduced him to slam poetry.

He was chosen as one of his High School's representatives at competitions.

After graduating High School, Micah continued to exercise his poetry skills and began to take classes at Mt. Hood Community College.

Fletcher began writing when he was a kid to pass away the boredom of being alone.

Yet, after listening to 1990s Hip hop, he was inspired by the wordplay and the music as a way

to cultivate and talk about ideas.

Writing and poetry have since become a part of his daily life.

The activity of writing transformed Micah into a person who opened up to discover that what he wanted to do through the act of writing is to represent people who do not have a voice.

And, for his poetry to become a force in the idea of change.

On May 26, 2017, while aboard a MAX train approaching the Hollywood, Portland, Oregon Transit Center at around 4:30 p.m. local time, Micah was among the people who

witnessed a deranged man onboard terrorize the bus.

The man was Jeremy Christian, and he began to yell racial sllurs at two Muslim girls, one of whom was wearing a hijab. ^[0]

Two men came to the women's defense, one of them identified as Taliesen Myrddin Namkai Meche, and were then stabbed to death by Christian. ^[3]

The third person was Micah, and was also stabbed and was transported to a local hospital who was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Christian was heard yelling, "Get off the bus, and get out of the country because you don't pay taxes here."

After the train stopped moving, Christian was also heard cursing and stated, "This is free America, I can do whatever I want." ^[3]

Officers arrested Christian as he ran from the Hollywood transit station into the neighborhood near Providence Portland Medical Center. ^[3]

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has also offered its resources to help Portland police with the investigation. ^[3]
