John Reinke

John Reinke

John Reinke is Texas-born American figure[15] known for appearing on the Netflix show, ‘Tiger King’. He was also a qualified bungee jumper, which has proven to be one of the world's most dangerous jobs.[6]

John Reinke and Netflix’s ‘Tiger King’

Netflix's "Tiger King" is a bonker addition documentary genre, taking Werner Herzog's "Grizzly Man" (2004) wild animal fascination and combining it with rednecks and murder-for-hire. [7]

The seven-episode documentaries, subtitled "Murder, Mayhem and Madness," tracks mullet-wearing, meth-addicted polygamist Joe Exotic (real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage), who runs the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park in Oklahoma.

The healthiest of the lot seems to be Kelci Saffery, a one-armed worker who lost her limb in a tiger attack; double amputee John Reinke, who lost both legs in a zip-lining accident; dutiful Zookeeper Erik Cowie, who always seems to miss his tiger friends; and Joshua Dial, who was Joe's unexpected Governor and President Campaign manager.

John Reinke's Personal Tragedy

A major disaster befell John on 22 April 1994 in Burkburnett, Texas. He was working like he does every day when one of the pulleys failed and John fell from a height of almost 55 feet. He smashed both legs and landed on a 6-inch metal stake that ripped through his stomach and colon. [8]

At the accident, all of his friends came to support him. John never believed he'd make it. He just wanted to visit his wife and two kids to give them one last farewell. Thankfully he was been admitted to the Hospital on time. John Reinke used a wheelchair at the Dallas Rehabilitation Center for 1 and a half years before he learned to walk again. The doctors amputated his left leg in 2006, replacing it with a Prosthetic one.

Marital life

John Reinke married Kristi, and they had two kids. During the 2006 Spring Break a stroke of luck brought Reinke, his wife, and two children to Joe's park. They met Ozzie, the grizzly, there and he kept going back to feed the bear. He finally moved in as manager in 2007. He shared a two-bedroom house which required bottle feeding with six volunteers, four dogs, two monkeys and several lion and tiger cubs. [9][10]

The family of Reinke stayed in Texas, but visited him often.

The doctors had to cut his right leg in September 2009 but in 10 days he was back at work with two prosthetic legs. John Reinke grew extremely attached to other animals in the zoo, including a lion called Bonedigger who also developed an unlikely relationship with Milo, a Dachshund.[11][10]

John Reinke whereabouts?

The documentaries show him driving a Chevrolet at two different stages, and a fancy- car. Despite more than a decade of working with Joe and keeping him out of trouble.

It seems that John has also left his Wife after 30 years, and from the series it is clear that he is working on cars which are used for racing purposes. He seems to operate in some capacity with the Bodine Transmission Store. It looks like Reinke is back in Texas.[13]

Trivia

He likes Bungee Jumping, being around dogs, working on cars that are used for racing purposes and playing with animals in the zoo.
