Kelci Saffery is an American Actor who's appeared on Netflix's Tiger King. Presently she is a Park Manager at GW Zoo in Oklahoma City.
Early life
Kelci Saffery is from Hawaii and always wanted a tiger when growing up. Since Saffery loves being around tigers, it has been her passion, and it is no surprise that he ended up in Exotic’s zoo, taking care of the several big cats there. She lost her parents while she was enlisted in the military. She went to Iraq and Afghanistan to serve her country.
Education
Kelci Saffery completed her schooling from the local school. Thereafter she went on to join the force to serve her country.
Career
Kelci Saffery was featured in Netflix’s “Tiger King” documentary series.
The Tiger King is a documentary series surrounding activities in an exotic zoo.
Field accident
In 2013, Kelci Saffery experienced a terrifying tiger attack when she was working as an employee of the park, moving tigers to different pens so she could feed them. Not long after the incident, she went back to work at GW Zoo (GW Exotic Animal Park). According to her “in the process of moving the tigers, she put her hand into an opening"; a move that was against the park’s rules. She ended up losing an arm in the attack.
Interview
According to the Saffery interview section, she told News 9 in 2013:
“He bit my hand and like I said he thought it was a toy so he put my claws on me.
Once he realized it wasn’t a toy, he completely let me go… They said it was going to be years and years of reconstructive surgery. That’s not something that sat well with me because that means I can’t be here on the park doing what I love…”
The tiger that attacked her was known as “tiger number seven,” since the zoo didn’t name the tigers at its facility, The Oklahoman reported.
The tiger was ordered to be isolated for at least 10 days.
Joe Exotic said the tiger had never been aggressive before and likely thought Saffery’s arm was a toy.
