Jennifer Topaz Irvine (June 6, 1975 - October 1, 2017) was a lawyer from San Diego, California. She was one of the victims of the Mandalay Bay Resort mass shooting.
Personal Life
Career
Jennifer Irvine began her career as an attorney after graduating from the California Western School of Law in 2005. As a litigator, she gained experience in class actions, complex civil litigation, and criminal defense.
In 2011, she opened her own practice.
She represented clients with various family law issues, including Child custody and divorce. Some of her additional clients faced criminal law issues, as she defended those with misdemeanor and felony charges in both State and Federal Criminal Court.
Interests & Activities
In her spare time, she enjoyed snowboarding and boating.
She also practiced hot yoga and earned a black-belt in Taekwondo.
Kyle Kraska, a longtime friend of Jennifer's, described her as "a smart, friendly and bubbly woman who enjoyed life and brought joy to others."
He recalls Irvine frequently organizing events and weekend trips to other cities with her friends.
Death
On October 1, 2017, Jennifer Irvine was fatally shot in the Mandalay Bay Resort mass shooting. According to her friend, Kyle, she was at the Route 91 Harvest holding hands and singing along to one of Jason Aldean's songs with a few of her girlfriends when the incident occurred.
Her death was announced in the afternoon of October 2nd by her publicist Jay Jones.
