HarrisonburgVOTES is a voter registration orga ization in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It identifies as a Non-partisan organization and was founded by Joseph Fitzgerald, former mayor of Harrisonburg, a Democrat Party donor and activist, and a technology employee at James Madison University. [1]

The organization's stated goal is to raise the number of registered Voters in Harrisonburg, Virginia to 25,000 and encourage active civic engagement in surrounding areas. [1]

Controversy

In September 2016, Andrew Spieles, a lead organizer, confessed to registering 19 dead people to vote in the 2016 US Presidential election. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened an investigation into the incident for potential Voter fraud. The group's webpages have been eliminated and Fitgerald has refused comment in the investigation.
