Denise Minger

Denise Minger is a health food advocate, lecturer, and Author who challenges mainstream dietary dogma. She describes herself as a "recovered raw vegan" and is based in Langley, Washington.

Biography

Denise Minger was born on May 4, 1987 in California and grew up in Shoreline, Washington. Her father is a former college vice president while her mother is a former biologist who did postgraduate immunology research. Denise was first interested in health at the age of 7 when she became a vegetarian. At the age of 11, she was diagnosed with a wheat allergy that made her into a "walking zombie" for a year.

After graduating from Shoreline High School at the age of 16, Denise Minger went on to attain a degree in English from Northern Arizona University. [1] Throughout her life, Denise has lived in Los Angeles, Portland, Hawaii, and more.

Nutrition

Denise Minger originally started the blog, Raw Foods SOS, to combat myths and falsehoods being circulated in the vegan and raw-food diet spheres. She went on to expand her nutritional horizons and change the name of her website to DeniseMinger.com. Today examines the science behind common nutritional beliefs, the ongoing scuffles between omnivores and vegans, and the emerging evidence for individual variation in human nutritional needs. Denise challenges mainstream narratives in health put forth by The China Study and similar experts.

An author, Denise wrote the book Death by Food Pyramid: How Shoddy Science, Sketchy Politics and Shady Special Interests Have Ruined Our Health.

It has since recieved hundreds of positive reviews on Amazon. Denise's current diet consists of of real-food plant-based majority-raw Paleo with smaller amounts of seafood, eggs, and organ meats.

Philosophy

A foundational belief in Denise's philosophy is the everyone has the right to be healthy and that an understanding of nutrition isn't a privilege reserved for the elite.

She approaches learning about nutrition like learning a language, through total immersion.
