Demi Rose Mawby
Early Life & Education
Demi wanted to become a model since her childhood:
"Since I was a little girl I always dreamed of becoming a model.
I loved being in front of the camera and striking a pose, now, my dream is reality."
Mawby's mother, Christine, had been ill for several years and Demi was her caretaker.
In March 2020, Mawby told the PrettyLittleThing podcast that when she was 17, her mother had a heart attack which caused a stroke and left her disabled.
Mawby recalled, "I was caring for her for so many years, about seven years."
"Then my dad passed away with cancer and then my mum then sadly passed away seven months after him with a stomach infection, and it just made me grow up really fast and be really really strong about things," Mawby said on the podcast.
The model credited her fans with helping her keep going during the emotionally difficult time. "Thank you all so much for the love and support," she said. "I really really appreciate it and you all are like my extended family. Gotta keep rolling."
"In school I was quite popular on MySpace and that kind of followed on to Instagram," she said. "It was really weird when people started recognizing me and stuff on the street. I just got used to it."
Taz’s Angels, an American publicity group, contacted her soon afterwards.
She signed a modeling contract with them.
Demi Rose left the group in November 2015, saying she was going back to the UK to look after her mother.
Demi then applied to a different modeling agency and was contacted within 24 hours.
Mawby has gained some attention for her DJ work, with the press labeling her as "the world's sexiest DJ."
She began dropping tracks on Soundcloud back in 2017 and, but she hasn't garnered as big of a following for her music as she has for her modeling.
“It was interesting, it just happened really fast.
He had been messaging me then I went to a party in Cannes and bumped into him.
He was nice and we got along.
And I spent some time with him.
We ended up spending the rest of our time there together.”
In December 2017, her relationship with British DJ Chris Martinez went public.
The relationship became public after they were spotted kissing at an airport in Madrid.
Unfortunately Demi & her boyfriend Chris Martinez have parted ways.
They have ended as friends and continue to support each other through out their careers.
Demi is single and very happy working on her career in the USA.
Demi claims that best relationships start as friends and she likes when things happen naturally:
"And, FYI, as a girl I’ve always hated being approached by guys trying to get my number.
I’ve never given it away and always felt really intimidated.
I like things to happen naturally.
Naturally as in the right environment, not coming across too strong and letting me lead almost rather than it being pushed all upon me."
"I don’t want to get told about how I look, I’ll get the hint that they think that’s all I have to offer.
Best relationships start as friends."
In November 2017, Demi Rose spoke on her Snapchat account of her safety fears after she was repeatedly propositioned by delivery men at her London flat. She said it had happened twice after she gave her name, address, and phone number when ordering goods for her new home. She said it happened as she accepted the delivery in her gym gear – and he abused her personal details to text her even after she rebuffed his advances.
Demi Rose claimed an earlier incident involved an Argos delivery worker – who texted her but begged her not to tell his bosses.
Mawby suffered the loss of her father Barrie Mawby at the end of 2018, and her mother Christine passed away in June 2019.
On July 1, 2020, Rose paid a visit to her late parents' house.
She took to Instagram stories, where she shared with her fans some of her parents' belongings, as she admitted: 'Coming home is always so hard for me.' Demi gave fans a glimpse of her younger self as she shared two childhood snaps of herself.
She also shared an old Mother's Day card which she had previously given to Christine, in which Demi declared how much she 'appreciates' and is 'proud' of her mum.
Mawby struggled with her body image and had an eating disorder in her younger years.
"I had a curvy figure at 16 and wanted to lose a load of weight so I went through a period of getting so skinny and putting myself on a strict diet.
I was so unhappy and hated my body," she told Daily Mail. She revealed that at one point she weighed as little as 37kg, which is equivalent to approximately 82 lbs.
Fortunately, Mawby realized that forcing herself to lose weight wasn't healthy and decided to make a change.
"One day I woke up and realized I had to get better for myself.
I started going to the gym, eating normally, and now I'm so confident with my body," she said.
In September 2018, Demi talked about her healthy diet.
I try to keep as healthy as I can.
With travelling, it's hard to work out, I travel across the world but try to keep my routine.
Everyone says I'm the healthiest person they know.
The fattiest thing I will ever eat is nuts and peanut butter.
My figure just gains weight so fast.
Any bad thing I eat my body isn't used to it and just puts on the weight.
That means no birthday cake!
All I've eaten today is nuts.
I've managed to eat a whole pot.
I feel guilty as there's a lot of fat in the nuts.
That's my treat!
So I'm happy!
Mawby elaborated on her fitness routine, saying:
"I train with Dean [personal trainer] four times or more a week for one hour each time.
We usually work on my glutes, abs and conditioning my body sessions with some cardio."
