On June 21, 2017, Stuckey was arrested and charged with the death of her youngest daughter, Zayla Hernandez, in Reno, Texas.

Authorities were initially called to the scene on June 13, 2017, in the 1500 block of Reno Road to investigate the death of Zayla Hernandez, 6 months.

The incident was originally reported as a medical emergency medical involving the infant. Cheyennetold Sheriff’s investigators she placed Zayla in the bathtub with the water running and left the baby alone for only a couple minutes.

Cheyenne Stuckey later returned to find her daughter unresponsive, floating face-down in the bathtub.Stuckeystated she was uncertain if she had placed a bathtub stopper in the drain.

A criminal investigation revealedStuckeyhad been on Facebook messaging two individuals for at least 18 minutes, while Zayla was left unattended.

Stuckey was booked in to the Parker County Jail and charged with injury to a child. Her bond has not been set.

Several other children in the home were removed and placed in foster care.
