Zolisa Xaluva (born 13/06/1981) is a popular South African actor.

Early life

Zolisa Xaluva was born in New Brighton, Eastern Cape. He was born into the family of Thando and Nombuyiselo Xaluva, a middle-class family in New Brighton, Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth. As a popular South African actor and recognized globally, through his hard work he walked into spotlight upon playing the role of Jason on the SABC 1 soapie Generations (South African TV series).

Education

He matriculated in Pretoria and studied at Wits Technikon. Zolisa majored in he majored in Media Studies and Communication Science at the university. Due to financial constraints, he was unable to continue his studies at the u`niversity.

Career

To earn a living, Zolisa Xaluva tried to establish a campus radio station for the university. The effort was turned down since he was no longer a bonified student of the institution. He then returned to Port Elizabeth to join a arts and culture group. Later he returned to Pretoria and attended Pretoria Tech where he studied drama and graduated in 2003.

After a lot of shortcomings, in the space of six (6) months, he landed his debut TV role, which was a minor role of Lwazi on season three (3) of Tsha Tsha, an SABC 1 drama series Tsha Tsha. Later after staying off the screen for a few times, he lands a role in generations, another SABC1 soapie in 2005.

Zolisa Xaluva played the role of Jason, a creative genius in the Advertising world, on the South African TV show. At first, he was hired to appear for a six-episode run. Viewers and fans of the series after falling in love with his character his contract was extended first to three (3) months, and later to one (1) year.

Zolisa was was part of the cast on Generations (South African TV series) who were controversially fired by Executive Producer and founder Mfundi Vundla over pay disputes.

Since Generations (South African TV series), Zolisa has revived his career with appearances on top series such as the The Queen (South African TV series) as the dangerous, notorious drug lord Diamond and Mzansi Magic The Throne.As of March 2020, he is starring as Melusi Xaba on hit telenovela Gomora (TV series).[1][2][3][4]
