The Queen (South African TV series) is South African telenovela created by Connie & Shona Fergusons' Ferguson Films. The show is broadcast on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel Monday to Friday 21:00. The Queen was originally created and debuted in 2016 as a telenovela, but due to its growing popularity it was tuned into a daily show.The Queen is one of South Africa's most popular shows with a big following mostly among younger viewers.[1]
Plot
The show revolves around the Khoza family, drug lords who hide their dealings behind their logistics company, and their conflicts with their competitors and the Tembisa Police Service. Connie Ferguson plays the role of Harriet Khoza, the widow of a drug lord, while Shona Ferguson plays the police officer Jerry Maake.The shows plot has since grown and added more rivals,other drug dealing and organized crime families,notably the Theron's and Mabuza family lead by the recently killed Gracious Mabuza which was played by Rami Chuene[2][3]
The latest major plot development is the arrival of the Sebata family, led by corrupt high ranking police colonel and major drug dealer Hector Sebata played by Rapulana Seiphemo and his tough,ruthless daughter and business partner Thando Sebata played by Jessica Nkosi. Both are hellbent on destroying the Khoza family so as to grow their drug business, due to the Khoza's position as the most successful drug-dealing family in South Africa.
