Zcash
Zcash
Zcash is an open cryptocurrency that can fully protect the privacy of transactions using zero-knowledge cryptography.
Features
Zcash is a decentralized and open-source Cryptocurrency that provides strong privacy protection. [1]
Zero-knowledge proofs allow fully encrypted transactions to be confirmed as valid.
This new property will enable entire new classes of blockchain applications to be built.
Shielded transactions hide the sender, recipient, and value on the Blockchain. [1]
Zcash claims that "If Bitcoin is like Http for money, Zcash is HTTPS- a secure transport layer", as Zcash protects the identity of users through Anonymization. [1] Bloomberg has praised the privacy that Zcash has been able to provide. The open nature of Bitcoin is seen by some as problematic. According to Tech Crunch, when the ZCash blockchain is initially set up, it is possible for its originators to retain “secret keys” that would allow them to anonymously create and spend new counterfeit ZCash whenever they like. This is a perceived risk by some people.
