Early Life & Education
Ylan Q. Mui was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents of Vietnamese descent. [2] [3] Mui attended St. Mary's Dominican High School, graduating in the class of 2002. [3] [2]
After high school, Ylan Q. Mui went on to attend Loyola University New Orleans from 1998 to 2002, where she majored in communications as well as minoring in Biology and Philosophy. [2] [3] [10]
Career
After College, Ylan Q. Mui was a receptionist at the Times-Picayune from 2000 to 2002. She then worked for the Washington Post , for nearly 15 years, most recently as White House economic policy correspondent. [2] [3] [10]
Ylan Q. Mui previously covered the Federal Reserve and the macroeconomy, subprime lending, consumer Finance, retail and education. In addition, Mui reported on major International stories, including the Greek government-debt crisis and Brexit, as well as national disasters such as the B.P. oil spill and Hurricane Katrina.
