A $15,000 reward for information leading to Guillen's whereabouts is being offered by the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command. [4]
Investigation
Vanessa's mother, Gloria Guillen, has told media that her daughter claimed she was being sexually harassed inside the military base by a sergeant. She also said someone from inside the base told her that her daughter had been kidnapped. [13]
On July 2, 2020, Cecily Aguilar was charged with one count of conspiracy to tamper with evidence. She faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a maximum $250,000 fine. According to the complaint, Aaron David Robinson, told Aguilar he killed Vanessa Guillen by hitting her in the head with a hammer. Both Robinson and Aguilar mutilated and disposed of Guillen’s body in Bell County.
Robinson committed suicide when he was questioned about Guillen's disappearance.
On July 7, 2020, the US Army confirmed, that Guillen's remains were discovered during a search near the Leon River, about 30 miles (48km) from Fort Hood. Major General Scott Efflandt said: "We all feel her loss. The loss of a vibrant young woman who bravely volunteered to serve her country, the loss of a talented soldier, the loss of a loving family member, and the loss of a friend with a bright future ahead of her."[15]
