Suzanne Morphew is a mother of two daughter s from Chaffee County, Colorado, who went missing on May 10, 2020, after going on a bike ride, while her husband, Barry Morphew, was in Denver on a business trip. She was reported missing by her neighbor after failing to return home.^[1]

Suzanne Morphew, 49 years old, is married to Barry Morphew who is from Alexandria, Indiana. The family moved from Arcadia, a small town about 35 miles north of Indianapolis, in 2018. She posted photos of their Arcadia house to Facebook in May 2018 after putting it on the market. Morphew wrote that the house sat on 13 acres of land and that the listing price was $895,000. Property records from Hamilton County, Indiana, indicate the property never sold and the Morphews still own it. Property records in Chaffee County, Colorado, show the Morphews purchased their current home in April 2018 for $1,575,000. The house, which was built in 2008, sits on more than 7 acres of land.

Morphew ran a charity organization that operated under her name.

She started the Suzanne R. Morphew Hope Foundation in 2012, according to business records with the Indiana Secretary of State’s office. Her husband was also listed as a principal. She dissolved the nonprofit organization in Indiana and relocated it to Colorado. It was registered with the Secretary of State of Colorado’s office in February 2020.

Morphew’s husband is a business owner.

According to Indiana business records, he started a company called BLM Enterprises in 2004.

He is also listed as an agent with BLM Landscaping in Indiana.

He is also a volunteer firefighter in Colorado.

The Morphews have two teenaged daughters.^[7]

Suzanne Morphew went for a bike ride on May 10 west of Maysville in the area of Chaffee County Road 225 and West Highway 50. Her neighbors called the county sheriff's office when she didn't come home. Morphew's bike was reportedly recovered the night she vanished.

In the days since she went missing, more than 100 people assisted in the search, including personnel from Chaffee County Search and Rescue, Department of Corrections, the Chaffee County Combined Tac Team, 11th Judicial District, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Salida Police Department, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office immediately began to search the area, with the help of more than 100 law enforcement officials from Chaffee County Search and Rescue, the Department of Corrections, and the Combined Tac Team. Drones and tracking dogs have also been used, but Morphew has not been found. The FBI has joined the investigation, along with other local agencies including the Salida Police Department. The sheriff’s office announced on May 15 that a personal item, believed to belong to Morphew, was found “just west of County Road 225 and Highway 50” and that search teams were focusing on that area.

The family also created a Facebook page to help spread the word.

Barry said to help the investigation, he opened his home and property to investigators, as well as cell phone records and computers.

He said he sat through countless days of interrogations and despite media reports, does not have a lawyer.

Suzanne’s daughters started a GoFundMe page to aid in the search for their mother.^[21]

Barry, the husband of Suzanne Morphew, who was reportedly out of town some 150-miles away in Denver when she went missing, released a video pleading for his wife’s safe return. He pledged a $100,000 reward for any information on her return.^[2][3]

In the video posted on Sunday, May 17, 2020, Barry made a tearful plea for the return of his wife.

Barry Morphew and an undisclosed friend each put up $100,000 reward money to bring the total to $200,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to her safe return.

In October 2020, Barry Morphew listed their home for sale.

The decision to list it was due to what he believes happened to her; he thinks she was abducted.

He told CBS 4 that his daughters are terrified to return to the house, and the family has been renting a home nearby for the last several weeks. Another reason Barry felt the need to list the home is due to the extensive media coverage. He was recorded against his will and had curious strangers wander onto the property.

Suzanne was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma just before she got married in 1994.^[21]
