Stephen Willeford is an American Plumber known for being hailed as a hero after he managed to shoot Mass shooter, Devin Kelley, and stop him from causing further harm. ^[6]

Stephen has been a resident of Wilson County, Texas for decades. ^{[7] [9]}He lives in Sutherland Springs with is wife, Pam Farmer Willeford. ^[11]He also has an older daughter. ^[9]

He and his wife married in July 15th, 1989, and the two enjoy riding motorcycles together.

^[7]Stephen is licensed Plumber and has been working the trade for many years in his hometown.

On the early afternoon of November 5th, 2017, a gunman by the name of Devin Kelley, who also wore body armor, entered the local First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs and open fired on dozens of people, killing 26 people and injuring many more. ^{[9] [10]}

Stephen was alerted by his daughter about the shooting.

Quickly, he took his rifle and headed down to the church bare foot to confront the killer.

When he got there, he managed to squeeze off a round that struck the gunman, who had dropped his Ruger AR-15 variant.

At that moment, Kelley, the killer, fled the area, got inside of a vehicle and drove away.

Johnnie Langendorf appeared with his truck, and Willeford hopped on, and the two chased Kelley on Farm Road 539. Kelley swerved and wiped out after going close to 95 mph. Willeford with is rifle drawn on Kelley. Kelley stepped out of the vehicle and shot himself in the head. ^[6]

The cops eventually arrived and caught up.

After Johnnie Langendorf revealed in an interview that Willeford is the true hero for having stopped Kelley, Willeford has been hailed as a hero by the news and Social media. ^{[6] [2]}

During an interview with the news media, Willeford discussed that he is not a hero for stopping Kelley.

He went on to say that God gave him the ability to be able to stop someone like Kelley.
