Sofia Magerko was a 16-year-old beauty pageant contestant from Izyum, Ukraine.
Life and Activities
Sofia was born August 14th, 2000 in Ukraine. When she reached her teenage years, she started competing in local beauty pageants and had done several modeling shoots. On her Instagram, Sofia can be seen living a life of opulence, posing next to motorcycles and luxury cars and documenting her social life.
Death
Moments before the crash
On the evening of June 30th, Sofia and her friend 24-year-old friend Dasha Medvedeva were traveling in a BMW in Kharkiv region of Ukraine. Both of them had been drinking alcohol throughout the evening and Dasha was operating the vehicle under the influence.
In an Instagram Live video, Sofia and Dasha Medvedeva can be seen joking around and enjoying life, with one of the ladies saying "hi boys" to the camera. Suddenly, Dasha lost control of the vehicle and collided into a pole; everything was recorded during the Instagram live stream. After the crash, two men can be heard on the stream trying to remedy the situation. Sofia died at the scene while Dasha died on the way to the hospital. Police are investigating the incident.
