Shahram Ahmadi
Shahram Ahmadi
Prisoner
On April 26th, 2009, Ahmadi was arrested and sentenced to death under Article 183 of “Muharebeh” - which has been removed since.
The judicial institutions of Iran have accused Ahmadi with Salafism and for associating with violent extremist groups participating in armed operations.
The specific group that he was accused of consorting with is the Salafist Sunni opposition group.
[0]Ahmadi has proclaimed his innocence through the expression of writing the fallacious accusations - the only crime he perceives to have committed is promoting his religion as a Sunni.
On the day of his arrest, Ahmadi was assaulted after leaving the mosque in Sanandaj.
Security forces fired several shots without warning, they apprehended him, and roughed him up by kicking and punching him, breaking his nose in the process.
One of his kidneys and part of his bowel were removed when he woke up from the hospital.
He was later interrogated while tortured in solitary confinement.
On the same day of his death sentence, his family experienced a violent car crash where his mother became paralyzed and lost her memory, and his sister the ability of speech.
His younger brother was also captured and later executed.
He was transferred from prisons numerous times, and began to have infections in his kidneys as well as developing intestinal disease for not receiving attentive medical help for prolonged periods of time.
Execution
On June 26th, after much anticipation that his execution would be abolished, the executive judge presented himself before the Sunni prisoners and announced their death sentences.
His family paid a large sum of money to the lawyer who said that he could suspend the execution, but he failed.
He was executed on August 2nd, 2016 along with roughly 30 other Sunni prisoners.
