Samantha Shader is an American from Catskill, New York. She was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of 4 New York City Police Department cops after hurling a molotov cocktail into an occupied police van in Brooklyn, NY on May 29, 2020.^[1][3][9]

Shader and her sister Darian, 21, Both from Catskill, New York left to Prospect Park in Brooklyn for the protest over the death of George Floyd an African American who was killed by Minneapolis, Minnesota Police officer Derek Chauvin on May 25, 2020 which has sparked a nation wide protest. ^[1]

Shader is suspected of allegedly tossing a molotov cocktail at the rear window of the police van with four officers inside while it was parked at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Washington Avenue, near Prospect Park, around 10:40 p.m. on Friday May 29, 2020 according to the NYPD. The device failed to explode on impact allowing the 4 officers to quickly escape out of the vehicle before it become engulfed in flames, police said.^[4][6]

Shader was later taken into custody and allegedly bit an officer on the leg, according to police.

She is charged with four counts of attempted murder of a police officer, attempted arson, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. ^[1]

Her sister, Darian Shader, interfered with the arrest, police said.

She was also arrested and charged obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Both sisters have a history of clashes with police at protests, a law enforcement source told DailyMail.com.^[8]
