Dr. Ruja Ignatova (born May 30, 1980), is a Bulgarian entrepreneur who is best known for founding Onecoin serving as Chief executive officer. She disappeared from the public in 2017. ^{[1] [10]}

Ignatova attended the University of Konstanz and University of Oxford.

On November 24, 2019, the BBC published a detailed investigation of OneCoin and Ignatova titled Cryptoqueen: How this woman scammed the world, then vanished. The reporters believe that Ignatova resides in Frankfurt under a false identity. ^[1]

She had received awards, in 2012 and 2014, in her country, qualified as “Business Woman of the Year”.

However, in 2015 the Bulgarian Financial Supervision Commission had warned that OneCoin was not recognized as a financial instrument and that it was highly risky.

In 2017, the same year as Ignatova disappeared, the Italian National Commission for Business and Stock Exchange banned all the company’s actions, while ensuring that OneCoin used a pyramid scheme and made deceptive promotion. ^[11]

In March 2019, her brother, Konstantin Ignatov, who assumed the position of leader of OneCoin after her disappearance, was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport, as a result of an investigation for alleged fraud.
