History
Peepal Farm started in 2014 with an initiative of setting up a recovery centre and an organic farm promoting veganism.
It was founded by Robin Singh and Joellen Anderson.
Robinis from India and his journey towards animal welfare started when visited Auroville in Pondicherry. There he met someone who took care of a large number of abandoned dogs. [1]
This encouraged Robin to devote himself to this cause.
He started a sterilization programme in Delhi and later decided to move closer to the nature to Dhanotu Village in Dharamsala.
This was the beginning of Peepal Farm.
The farm serves as a recovery space for injured animals who are rescued from the streets and later after recovery are released back to their original place.
The sterilization program done by Peepal Farm sterilizes about 26 dogs are every month.
The entire property has been created with sustainable items, such as mud, salvaged wood and stones.
They work 24/7 throughout the year.
They also run 'Desi Dog, Desi Log' campaign where they try to adopt local dogs instead of foreign breed dogs.
