Biography

Early Life

Nada Glass Bakos grew up in a small town near Missoula and attended Montana State University.

CIA

Nada Glass Bakos applied online for a position with the CIA and was shocked to receive a call inviting her to interview for the job. Bakos worked as an analyst in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Counterterrorism Center, analyzing intelligence and reports from abroad. She was on the team charged with analyzing the relationship between Iraq, Al-Qaeda and 9/11.

During the war, She then worked for the National Clandestine Service as a Chief Targeting Officer looking for al-Qaida leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi which was subsequently a key inspiration for the lead character in the The Academy Award nominated film Zero Dark Thirty. [1] The information she gathered led agents to find Osama bin Laden in 2011, at which time U.S. Special Forces killed him in a raid on his Pakistan compound. Bakos is another example of a success story for Montana residents who dream of working for the CIA.

Career

After 20 years in the intelligence field and corporate world, Bakos is currently working on on national security issues, illicit networks and regional stability around the world.

As an analyst at the CIA, she wrote and contributed to key intelligence reports from the front lines in Iraq, reports delivered to the The White House, Congressional leaders and Department of Defense. [1]

After leaving the CIA, Bakos applied her ability to assess and respond to complex national security issues to identifying business risks for Starbucks, where she translated these risks into actionable strategic communications plans in support of the company’s global expansion. Bakos has worked with C-level corporate executives, senior level government officials, and front-line-technical teams to help them understand the business – or security – related context to deploying new processes and technologies. [1]

Bakos is also using her experiences and insights to to develop better analytic experiences to spot promising technologies.

She now is focusing her experience from within the Agency as CoFounder of a new technology startup, Didacted, that is aimed at solving the source and information quality problems she encountered at the Agency and on the battlefield.

Nada has a book coming out in February 28th, 2017 regarding her experiences with the CIA title, The Targeter: My Life n the CIA, on the hunt for the Godfather of ISIS. Entrenched in the predominantly male world of the CIA, Bakos belonged to a small yet dedicated sisterhood leading U.S. Special Operations Forces to the doorstep of one of the world's most wanted terrorists. The book is a tale about Nada's life, but it is also an intimate chronicle of how a group of determined, ambitious men and women worked tirelessly in the heart of the CIA to ensure our nation's safety at home and abroad.

Political Views

On Donald Trump, Nada says the following in regards to an incident involving a man suspected to be a member of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) at one of his rallies: "It's disturbing to me that Donald Trump will take things at face value. If he's [president and] reading intelligence that comes to his desk... that's imperfect information. How is he going to discern what's true and what's not? Trump is playing perfectly into that strategy. I think they [ISIS] would be the last people that want to hurt him at this point."
