Mohamed Noor is a Somali-American police officer serving the Minneapolis Police Department. [1] [2] [3]

Education

He graduated from Augsburg College in 2011 with a degree in business administration. [1] [3] [2]

Career

Officer Noor joined the department in March 2015 and is currently assigned to the 5th Precinct in the southwest part Minneapolis. [2] [1] [3]

He has one complaint against him that was dismissed with no disciplinary action being taken.

Shooting of Justine Ruszczyk (Damond)

On July 15, 2017, just before 11:30 p.m., two officers from the Minneapolis Police Department, responded to a 911 call made by Justine Ruszczyk (Justine Damond), of a possible assault just north of the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue street. [1] [2] [3]

Officer Noor is accused of firing his weapon, fatally striking Justine.

[2] [1]He had reached over and shot Justine multiple times from the passenger seat of his squad car while she spoke to his colleague on the drivers side in a back alley behind her residence. [1] [2] [3]

Both officer's bodycams were off and the squad car's camera was not recording at the time of the shooting. [2] [1] [3]

On July 17, 2017, the Hennepin County medical examiner confirmed Damond died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The examiner classified her death as a homicide. [2] [3] [1]
