Early Life & Education
Ogbalu is a fellow of the International Academy of Cards and Payment, with an MBA from the Lagos Business School. He has an affinity for business development, product research, IT strategy design and support.
Career
Mike Ogbalu has been involved in the IT and retail banking industries. He has covered technology planning, deployment and management of enterprise-wide infrastructure, remittance, retail product sales, online banking, product management, and project management. [1]
He has managed the implementation of credit card products in a 3-month time frame.
He has also established a leadership role in United Bank for Africa’s e-banking infrastructure consolidation. While there, he also managed a small business group profit center and the repositioning of UBA’s Cashfast money transfer and MoneyGram products to achieve industry leadership. [1] Mike has also managed the e-banking portfolio of Ecobank Nigeria, which covers credit, debit and prepaid card issuing, Channel Acquiring, Mobile Payments, Internet banking, and Alert services for a period. Now, he is preoccupied with building the most successful mobile money service in Nigeria.Mike has facilitated in courses on remittance and cards for the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM). He was a panelist at MSCC's maiden conference on payments in Egypt and at Visa's conference on financial inclusion at Cape Town. [1]
