Mike Nekta is an American diamond dealer & manufacturer, jewelry designer, and real estate investor based in New York City. He is a third-generation diamond expert who specializes in bridal jewelry. Nekta's diamond expertise has had him cited in major media outlets such as the Daily Mail , Page Six of the New York Post , and Celebrity Buzz.[1][2][3]
Early Life and Education
Nekta is originally from Brooklyn.[5] He speaks English and Russian fluently. Netka's grandfather and father immigrated to the United States from the ex-Soviet Union in the mid-1970s. Nekta received his education from the Gemolagical Institute of America where he studied diamonds and diamond grading. He also studied accessories design, production, & import/export from the Fashion Institute of Technology , took classes in marketing at Baruch College , and earned an associates degree in marketing and management from Queens College, City University of New York .[10]
Career
Nekta was born into the diamond and jewelry business from his father and grandfather.
Originally watchmakers in the Soviet Union, they immigrated to the United States for a better life and set up a watchmaking and repair shop in the diamond district of New York City. After making his first $5,000, Nekta's grandfather bought gold wholesale and began divulging more into the jewelry business throughout the 1980s. Nekta would learn the tricks of the trade from his father and grandfather.[666666]
Early in his career, Nekta became a partner at the high end retail jewelry boutique, Leon Diamond, and was the owner of the luxury goods brokerage firm, Roman De Leon.[9] In 2003, Nekta founded and became chief designer of the luxury watch brand Nekta Limited and offers limited production of Swiss diamond watches.[10] Nekta has been at Leon Diamond for over 20 years and offers Rare Gems, Fine Diamond Jewellery, Engagement Rings, Bridal Jewellry, Swiss Timepieces. Custom Made Jewellry as well as watch brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Bvlgari, IWC, Panari, Brightling, Rado, Movado, Nekta, AquaMaster, Jacob & Co., and Michelle Watch. He operates boutiques in the NYC Diamond District, Rockefeller Center, and Times Square. In addition, he operates an online eBay store.[16]
