Michelle Carter is a 19-year-old Massachusetts resident.

Life and Education

She attended King Philip Regional High School.

She was named "class clown" and "most likely to brighten your day" in school superlatives.

But friends also suspected she suffered mental illness: she had made oblique references to time spent at McLean Hospital, a Belmont psychiatric facility.

Manslaugther

In 2014, Michelle sent text messages and had a phonecall with Conrad Roy III encouraging him to commit suicide. Conrad had talked about committing suicide for a long time, but on the day of his suicide, he had second thoughts and even left the car because he got scared while he was poisoning himself.

Conrad and Michelle had met in Naples, Florida while visiting relatives.

Legal Charges

Michelle is being charged for involuntary manslaughter and faces up to 20 years in prison.

In August of 2017, a ruling was made.

Michelle was found guilty of Manslaughter and was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison.
