Michael Trapson
Michael Trapson
Michael Trapson is the alias of American Hip hop artist Dean Morrow Jr who reimagines the Phenomenon of Michael Jackson as a southern Rapper.
About
Since the time that he was three years old, Morrow had heard the music of Micheal Jackson from his mother at a young age Michael Trapson used to played all the time around the house. Before starting the project of Trapson, he rapped under the alias of OG Cano .
Morrow's nephew had visited from California, and while they smoked Cannabis and worked on some music production the two were collaborating, Morrow asked, "What if Michael Jackson was a rapper?" They began shooting videos after and collaborating on the music.
Style
The music created by Morrow follows the tradition of Trap music while singing in an autotune with softer timbres in the higher register of his voice in order to allow for the stylizing of Michael Jackson as a Rapper to work.
As Marry Jane writes about Marrow's reimagining of Michael Jackson:
"On songs and videos like “Billie Jean and I Dab” and “If Michael Jackson Was a Stoner,” Trapson reimagines what MJ’s biggest hits from the 1980s might have sounded like if drenched in THC and produced by the Migos."
