Memphitz
Memphitz
Memphitz (born** Mickey Wright Jr**) is a record producer.
Career
Memphitz' start in the recording industry began with an internship with Arista Records. He got the opportunity to be the host of "The Deal" on BET, and soon began to work for Jive Records. He is currently their Senior Vice President of A&R, and is most widely recognized for signing rapper, T-Pain. He also started his own label, Hitz Committee Records. [1]
Personal Life
Domestic Abuse with K.Michelle
Memphitz is the former boyfriend of Love & Hip Hop cast member, K. Michelle. During an episode of the show she admitted to another cast member the physical abuse she endured during her love affair with Memphitz. She was a signed artist to Memphitz‘s Hitz Committee record label, and claimed he beat her to the point of burns and bruises, supposedly leaving scars on the singer’s body. To this day Wright fully denies K. Michelle‘s claims and has officially taken this drama to courts. Memphitz denies it ever happened and decided to take her to court. He had this to say:
“My family and I have suffered tremendously while VH-1, Monami Ent., and the other companies provided a worldwide platform for K. Michelle to repeatedly assassinate my character.
The filing of this suit is to compensate for the irreparable damage that has been done to my reputation and to deter these companies from doing such future harm to others.”
Memphitz attempted to sue the named Defendants: K. Michelle, Viacom International, Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment and NFGTV, Inc - for approximately one dollar per viewer per show for damages that stem from the defamatory statements and denigrating actions of cast member Kimberly Michelle Pate p/k/a K. Michelle. He lost the defamation battle against singer K. Michelle, Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment and VH1, where he says they falsely accused him of physical abuse and embezzlement on Love & Hip Hop. He admitted to a physical confrontation with K. Michelle in a Memphis hotel in 2009 and acknowledged that he spent money from Jive Records’s budget for jewelry. He also sent text messages threatening to murder K. Michelle’s son. The judgement details how Memphitz put a pillow over K. Michelle’s mouth to quiet her and her feeling he was trying to kill her was justified. To win the defamation case, Memphitz had to really prove that he’s not a public figure and that the allegations against him were false.[2][7]
Marriage to Antonia Johnson
In June, 2011, he became the husband of Antonia Johnson, also known as Toya Wright, the star of the BET (Black Entertainment Television) reality series, "Toya: A Family Affair", and former wife of rapper, Lil Wayne.
After almost 5 years of marriage, they are now getting a divorce.
Charges of Aggravated Assault and Armed Robbery
Memphitz turned himself in five days after allegedly pulling a gun on a Johns Creek car wash worker.
Fulton County jail records show Wright was booked on charges of aggravated assault and armed robbery.
Johns Creek police spokesman Capt. Christopher Byers confirmed that Wright turned himself in.
