Meaghan Thomas was born in Georgia. She hails from Johns Creek, Georgia, but not a stranger to Tennessee’s weather patterns. When growing up, she has memories visiting her mom’s hometown of Shelbyville. The town “Tennessee” is definitely her home.

Meaghan Thomas is a certified storm spotter and storm chaser in Georgia. As a student, Meaghan experienced the devastating tornado outbreak that happened on April 27, 2011.

The experience reinforced her interest to learn more about atmospheric science.

She later completed her master’s degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2014.

While attending to her studies at Mississippi State University, she became a teaching assistant in the Department of Communications.

After completing her studies, Meaghan worked as a meteorologist at WCBI, the CBS affiliate, in Columbus. She helped cover and reported the April 28, 2014 tornado outbreak that happen across Mississippi. ^[3][5]

In 2014, after leaving WCBI, she joined the ABC affiliate in Birmingham as a reporter. She anchor the weekend and morning meteorologist at ABC 33/40 for over six years covering everypart from tornadoes to ice storms. When she is not on TV reporting, she worked at the University of Alabama as an Adjunct Professor teaching the Fundamentals of Electronic News.^[3]
