Early Life
Gugino grew up in Buffalo, New York and moved to Cleveland, where he worked in computer technology, before returning to Western New York. [1] [10]
Activism
He has been involved in a broad array of issues ranging from nuclear disarmament nuclear disarmament to climate change and Guantánamo. He has a YouTube channel with 35 subscribers in which he discusses such issues. [1] [4]
Writing
Gugino is also a frequent letter-writer to The Buffalo News. In 2019, he wrote a letter to the editor criticizing Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown's reaction to a protest against the detainment of migrant children at the United States/Mexico border during which protesters blocked the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Chippewa Street. George Floyd Protest/ Viral Video
On June 4, 2020, Gugino was allegedly shoved by officers of the Buffalo Police Department in front of New York City Hall. Video of the incident has been seen by more than 58 million people. One of the officers identified who is seen allegedly shoving Gugino causing him to fall backwards and bleed from his head was identified as Aaron Torgalski (Police Officer). [2]
He is currently in serious but stable condition at Erie County Medical Center.
