Gill graduated from Oxford University with a BA Hons in medicine. ^[2]

Martha started her career in 2011 as an Intern at Financial Times. In 2012-2013 she worked as a Staff Writer at New Statesman. In 2013-2014 she was a Politics Writer at Telegraph Media Group. Later, she worked at The Economist, firstly as a Britain Correspondent, and later as a Home Affairs Correspondent. In 2016, Gill became a Political Reporter at The Huffington Post. Since 2017, Martha has been a freelance political journalist.^[2]
