Marisela Burgos is a reporter that is passionate about Journalism. She joined 7News WSVN as a General Assignment Reporter in April, 2019. She has been nominated for Emmy Award for more than two times.
Early Life
Marisela was born in Puerto Rico and this makes her to be fluent in Spanish. She graduated high school in South Florida and then graduated from Florida International University with a Communications degree and a specialization in Broadcast Journalism.
Career
Marisela Burgos, while she was still a student at the Florida International University, started her broadcasting career as an intern at WFOR-TV between 2004 and 2005. Then, after completing her Broadcast journalism degree, she worked as a Reporter and a Weekend Anchor at WNCT-TV for three years before she started working as a General Assignment Reporter at WAVE 3, Louisville KY in 2009. At WAVE 3, she was nominated for an AP award for Best Investigative News story.
In April 2015, Marisela Burgos joined ABC Action News at Tampa as a reporter in April, 2015 and she was excited to be back in Florida and closer to family. She spent four years. Marisela Burgos joined 7 News as a general assignment reporter in April 2019.
Her career has taken her to a number of cities, including Indianapolis, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, and Greenville, North Carolina. During her career, she was nominated for an AP award for Best Investigative News story, as well as two Emmy nominations. One of those stories dug deep into car seat standards and testing.[3][1][2]

She was also nominated in 2015 for her work the previous year at FOX 59 News in Indianapolis; she has received an individual Emmy nomination for two stories about car seat standards and testing.
She received a second Emmy nomination for her story within a newscast about an officer who was killed in the line of duty.[2]
Personal Life
She is a big horse racing fan and she's rooting that one day Jockey Joe Talamo will win a Kentucky Derby.
While in Indianapolis, Marisela covered a variety of stories that impacted Hoosiers.
Some of her favorite memories were covering the Super Bowl when Indianapolis hosted it, being a part of the Indianapolis 500 experience, and meeting IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti. [2]
