Marcela Perez Barros (b. Barranquilla, Colombia) is an Emmy Award winning journalist based in Houston, Texas.^[1][2] She is a reporter at Noticias Univision.^[3][4]

Pérez Barros is a graduate of the Universidad del Norte, Colombia with a degree in social communication and journalism.

Before joining Univision, she worked as an economic journalist in Santiago de Chile and previously collaborated with Diario La República in Bogotá, Colombia. Her journalistic work in Bogotá led her to be a finalist in the Ibero-American Contest of Economic Journalism.

Pérez Barros was awarded two Lone Star Emmy Awards in 2018; one for her coverage of the Santa Fe High School Shooting and the second for Anchor of the show Beyond The Duet.^[8] In September 2018, she was voted Best Female Anchor by the Houston association of Hispanic media professionals.^[9]

In 2019, she won a Lone Star Emmy Award for her participation in the retrospective show Harvey, Un Año Después which looked at the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.^[10][11]

She was awarded a fourth Lone Star Emmy Award in 2020 in the category of "Continuing Coverage - Within 24 Hours" for anchoring the Democratic Debate In Houston.^[12]
