Lorenzo Thione
Thione, Lorenzo is a serial entrepreneur, Tony-Nominated Broadway producer, co-creator and lead producer of Allegiance, LGBT rights advocate, and the 2015 Broadway musical starring George Takei and Lea Salonga. He was born on October 21, in Milan, Italy.
Education
Lorenzo Thione holds Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. Lorenzo has completed his studies at The University of Texas at Austin, from which he holds a Master's degree in Computer Engineering.
Career
In developing Allegiance, he spearheaded social-media viral strategies that led to astounding growth and unprecedented awareness and audience engagement for George Takei, and to the founding of The Social Edge and the release of Contempo, for which he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer.
He previously co-founded startups PowerSet (acquired by Microsoft in 2008) and Artify.it; he is an investor and advisor for startups such as CrowdFlower, CrowdMed, Famo.us, Etacts (now Salesforce), ChoicePass (now Salesforce), Gobble, and Lucid Charts. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of Algebraix Data and Kenzen.
Thione is the co-founder and board chair emeritus of StartOut, the leading non-profit dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship within the LGBT community. [1] He's an outspoken LGBT advocate and was named one of the most influential LGBT People in tech in 2014 by Business Insider.
Lorenzo has been part of the production team of numerous productions on and off Broadway since 2008. His Broadway and Touring credits include the 2008 Broadway production of Slava’s Snowshow and the 2009 Broadway debut Green Day’s American Idiot, both of which were nominated for Tony Awards as best productions in their respective categories, as well as the national tour of Xanadu (all as Associate Producer).
As the lead producer of Allegiance, Lorenzo has assembled an experienced and veteran Broadway team and brings a fresh and creative perspective to the challenges of commercial theatre production.
