Death
On December 9 at 5:50am, Rodriguez was driving to work in her Nissan Sentra when she was broadsided by a 2001 Dodge Ram Van 3500 Series that ran through a red light. Rodriguez was driving westbound on Mongolia Avenue in Riverside while the other vehicle was driving southbound on Tyler Street. The force of the crash caused Rodriguez's vehicle to hit an electrical pole at the center of the median. Linda Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness saw the Dodge Ram leave the scene and proceeded to follow her and report her license plate number, which lead police the apartment of Erasto Gomez in Riverside.
After being questioned, Gomez was detained and booked at Robert Presley Detention Center for hit-and-run involving injury or death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Police believe that Rodriguez’ speed at the time of the collision may have been a factor in the collision.
A GoFundMe has been established to help Linda's family pay for her funeral.
